13th Eastern European Academy for Social Democracy

The EU Enlargement Odyssey: Unlocking New Horizons in Turbulent Waters.

The FES Regional Office “Dialogue Eastern Europe” is pleased to invite young politicians, civil society activists, political scientists, researchers, journalists and other young professionals from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Germany to participate in our upcoming Eastern European Academy for Social Democracy “The EU Enlargement Odyssey: Unlocking New Horizons in Turbulent Waters”.

The Academy will take place on July 8-12, 2024 in Brussels, Belgium.

In our dynamic and interconnected world, a further enlargement of the European Union could offer opportunities for growth, collaboration, and progress. Besides its economic appeal and the shared values it represents, EU enlargement has also gained a special meaning in the light of growing security challenges in our region and the strengthening of totalitarian regimes opposing European democracies. But the path to enlargement is long and many old and new questions have to be answered in the years to come.

Our 13th Eastern European Academy for Social Democracy is designed to provide young actors from the EaP region with both crucial information about the transformative power of EU enlargement and the challenges that have to be overcome to become a member of the European Union. Participants will gain valuable insights into the complexities of European integration and the socio-economic, political and practical implications of EU enlargement.

We will dig into the “Brussels bubble”, visit EU Institutions and gain first-hand information from well-informed experts. Moreover, through collaborative projects and simulations, participants will have the opportunity to delve into real-world scenarios, grappling with the complexities of negotiations and decision-making within the EU context.

Besides sharing information, we aim to empower the participants to become active agents of change in their communities and beyond. Last but by no means least, we will do so by providing numerous networking opportunities.

This is a unique opportunity for participants to connect with like-minded individuals, experts, and organizations working in the field of foreign policy, European integration, politics and civil society development in the region, fostering collaboration and sharing of best practices.
